WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine today applauded the Senate’s confirmations of Dana J. Boente to serve as a United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia and John P. Fishwick, Jr. to serve as a United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia. Mr. Boente – a 37-year veteran of the Justice Department and experienced trial lawyer –is the current interim U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. Mr. Fishwick – currently a partner at LichtensteinFishwick PLC – has extensive experience in the U.S. District Court as a criminal defense attorney and civil litigator.
“We are pleased that the Senate has confirmed two extraordinarily qualified individuals, Dana Boente and John Fishwick, to serve as U.S. Attorneys in the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia. Dana and John received widespread support across the Commonwealth, including from the Virginia State Bar and the American Bar Association. We are delighted our Senate colleagues unanimously supported their nominations today and are confident each will serve Virginia honorably,” the Senators said.
Warner and Kaine recommended Mr. Boente and Mr. Fishwick to the President in May. The White House nominated them in October and the Senate Judiciary Committee endorsed their nominations last week.
The Eastern District has offices in Alexandria, Richmond, Newport News and Norfolk. The Western District has offices in Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Roanoke, Danville, Abingdon and Big Stone Gap.
