Warner & Kaine Announce Nearly $2 Million In Funding For Martinsville-Based Manufacturing Partnership

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senators Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine announced $1,881,221 in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s (DOC) National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for A.L. Philpott Manufacturing Extension Partnership in Martinsville, also known as GENEDGE. The grant will support the organization’s efforts to meet the evolving needs of manufacturing in Virginia by helping small and mid-sized businesses develop new products and customers, expand into global markets, adopt new technology, and support domestic production efforts.

“This grant makes an important investment in Virginia’s manufacturing industry. We’re excited to announce funding that can support the growth of good jobs and expansion of business in Virginia,” the Senators said.

The NIST’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) aims to strengthen U.S. manufacturing. MEP has worked with nearly 80,000 manufacturers, creating thousands of jobs and leading to $88 billion in sales.
