WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine announced $1,722,571 in federal funding for a Martinsville-based organization that helps create partnerships and support manufacturing across Virginia. This funding will help Virginia GENEDGE support small and mid-sized businesses as they develop new products and customers, expand into global markets, adopt new technology, and support domestic production efforts.
“Virginia has had a great track record of ensuring that our job market adapts to the needs of the country. We are thrilled to announce this smart investment to help small and medium businesses grow and meet the changing needs in manufacturing,” the Senators said.
GENEDGE is a part of the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) National Network. MEP is a program within the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) at the U.S. Department of Commerce. With affiliates across the United States, MEP aims to strengthen U.S. manufacturing. MEP has worked with nearly 80,000 manufacturers, creating thousands of jobs and leading to $88 billion in sales.
