Video: Kaine Celebrates Legislative Accomplishments for Virginia from 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Tim Kaine released the following video highlighting wins for Virginia he secured in 2024. In the video, Kaine discussed various pieces of legislation he introduced that are now law, actions the Biden-Harris Administration took—following Kaine’s urging—to make our communities healthier and safer, and new ways laws he helped enact, like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, CHIPS and Science Act, and Inflation Reduction Act, are continuing to bring massive investments and new jobs to the Commonwealth.
“I’m proud of everything we’ve been able to accomplish this year, but I know that there’s still so much more work to do,” Kaine said. “… I look forward to building on this year’s progress, traveling around Virginia, showing up for you, listening to you, and then standing up for you in the years ahead. Kaine’s 2024 accomplishments include:
Legislation he successfully helped pass into law, including:
- The Social Security Fairness Act, bipartisan legislation that enhances Social Security benefits for more than 50,000 Virginians, including firefighters, police officers, and other dedicated public servants;
- The BOLD Act to help combat Alzheimer’s Disease;
- The Forgotten Heroes of the Holocaust Congressional Gold Medal Act, to honor the diplomats who helped save Jewish people during the Holocaust;
- The BRIDGE for Workers Act to help more Americans find good-paying jobs;
- The bipartisan Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act 2.0, alongside Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA), to reauthorize a program Kaine helped create in 2014 in honor of Gabriella Miller, a Virginian who spent her life advocating for children with cancer, to advance lifesaving research;
- And—also alongside Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA)—the National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act to help address Parkinson’s Disease.
Historic investments that have come to Virginia thanks to legislation Kaine helped pass, including:
- A $275 million investment in Micron’s Manassas facility, which will create over 1,000 jobs;
- A $1.35 billion investment from Microporous LLC to build a new manufacturing facility, which will create thousands of jobs in Southside;
- $380 million in federal funding for the Port of Virginia to become carbon-neutral by 2040;
- A $681 million investment from LS GreenLink to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, which will create hundreds of jobs in Chesapeake;
- An investment that’s expected to be over $400 million from Topsoe to build a new manufacturing facility, which will create at least 150 new jobs in Chesterfield County;
- An investment of $208 million by Mack and Volvo Trucks—in addition to a federal grant award of over $208 million for the company—to sustain 7,900 union jobs and create 295 new jobs in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
- Over $154 million in federal funding for affordable housing across the Commonwealth.
Steps Kaine successfully advocated for the Biden-Harris Administration to take to make our country healthier and safer, including:
- The FDA issuing final guidance to raise the tobacco age to 21;
- Expanded coverage of IVF and other fertility services for federal workers;
- The Department of Labor implementing new standards to limit miner’s exposure to silica dust;
- And the closure of the gun show loophole, enhancing gun safety.

It’s hard to believe 2024 is almost over. As I reflect on the past year, I want to take some time to celebrate some of what we’ve been able to accomplish together.
This year, I was able to pass several bills through both chambers of Congress including:
The BOLD Act to help combat Alzheimer’s Disease;
The Forgotten Heroes of the Holocaust Congressional Gold Medal Act, honoring diplomats who helped save Jewish people during WWII and the Holocaust;
The BRIDGE for Workers Act to help more Americans find good-paying jobs;
And—alongside Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton—the National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act to help address Parkinson’s Disease.
In 2024, we also had historic investments come to Virginia thanks to legislation I’ve helped pass, including:

A $681 million investment from LS GreenLink to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, creating hundreds of jobs in Chesapeake;
A new Topsoe manufacturing facility, expected to bring more than $400 million in investments and create at least 150 new jobs in Chesterfield County;
Over $154 million in federal funding for affordable housing across the Commonwealth.
