Senators will select applicants to send to the White House for nomination, Senate to confirm
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine are now accepting applications for the position of U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Virginia following the retirement announcement of U.S. Marshal Nick Proffitt. After receipt of applications, the Senators will select from the pool of qualified law enforcement personnel to recommend for President Biden’s nomination. The White House will then nominate an individual to be considered by the Senate Judiciary Committee. The nomination is subject to confirmation by the full Senate.
“U.S. Marshals are law enforcement professionals tasked with carrying out the intent of the federal judiciary, providing protection, and apprehending wanted fugitives,” said the Senators. “As we begin the transition process for this key position in the Eastern District of Virginia, we look forward to reviewing qualified candidates and selecting the right individual.”
Interested applicants should visit Senator Kaine’s website for application instructions. The application period will close on Monday, November 15, 2021.
