Kaine To Serve On Defense Bill Conference Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, was named to the FY16 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference Committee by Chairman John McCain (R-AZ) and Ranking Member Jack Reed (D-RI). The bipartisan, bicameral committee is tasked with ironing out differences between the Senate and House versions of the annual defense authorization bill.

“As a member of the NDAA Conference Committee, I’ll be an advocate for a bipartisan compromise that would ensure our military has the resources for today’s complex threat environment, grant relief from harmful sequestration cuts, support our defense community and shipbuilding industry, and improve the credentialing process to help reduce veterans’ unemployment,” said Kaine.

Other Senate conferees include McCain, Reed and U.S. Senators Jim Inhofe (R-OK), Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Bill Nelson (D-FL), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Roger Wicker (R-MS), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Joe Manchin (D-WV), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Joe Donnelly (D-IN), Deb Fischer (R-NE), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Tom Cotton (R-AR), and Mike Rounds (R-SD).
