Kaine Statement On Supreme Court Extending Same-Sex Marriage Rights Nationwide

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Tim Kaine released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s decision legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide:

“By recognizing the constitutional right of all people to marry the person they love, the Supreme Court has guaranteed that, across the country, same-sex couples will have their relationships treated with the full legal dignity and respect that they deserve. With our country’s fundamental ideal that ‘all men are created equal’ in mind, I welcome the end of discriminatory bans that have, until today, denied same-sex couples the privileges, responsibilities, and joys of marriage. This is an important step on our continuing quest to create a more perfect union.”

DECLARACIÓN DE KAINE SOBRE LA DECISIÓN DE LA SUPREMA CORTE DE EXTENDER EL DERECHO AL MATRIMONIO ENTRE PERSONAS DEL MISMO SEXO A TODO EL PAÍS

WASHINGTON, D.C. – El Senador Tim Kaine hizo hoy las siguientes declaraciones sobre la decisión de la Suprema Corte de legalizar los matrimonios entre personas del mismo sexo en todo el país:

“Al reconocer el derecho constitucional de todos a casarse con la persona que aman, la Suprema Corte ha garantizado que, en todo el país, se trate el vínculo entre las parejas del mismo sexo con toda la dignidad legal y el respeto que merece. Teniendo en mente el ideal fundamental de que ‘todos los hombres son creados iguales’, apruebo el acabar con prohibiciones discriminatorias que, hasta el día de hoy,  les habían negado a las parejas del mismo sexo los privilegios, las responsabilidades y el júbilo de matrimonio. Celebro la unión más perfecta que hoy hemos logrado.”
