WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tim Kaine released the following statement today on the Supreme Court’s decision to vacate the ruling in Gloucester County School Board v. G.G. and remand the case back to the Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit:
“Today’s Supreme Court action is directly traced to the Trump Administration’s decision to reverse the Obama Administration’s commitment to equality for all students. Regardless of the Administration’s retreat, I have high hopes that the Richmond-based Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals will continue to stand for fair treatment for all, including transgender students.”
Last week, Senator Kaine cosigned an amicus curiae brief explaining that transgender and gender non-conforming students are protected from discrimination under Title IX.
