Kaine Statement on Ruling on Immigration Reform in Budget Reconciliation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Budget Committee, released the following statement regarding the Senate Parliamentarian’s decision on the proposal to provide a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients, TPS holders, and immigrant essential workers in budget reconciliation:

“I’m saddened by this decision, but I remain deeply committed to protecting immigrants who call America home, including over 20,000 TPS holders and 9,000 DACA recipients in Virginia. Our Commonwealth and our economy are stronger thanks to their contributions, and I will not rest until we put them on the path to citizenship.”

DECLARACIONES DE KAINE SOBRE LA DECISIÓN ACERCA DE LA REFORMA MIGRATORIA EN EL PAQUETE PRESUPUESTARIO DE RECONCILIACIÓN

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Hoy, el Senador Tim Kaine, miembro del Comité del Presupuesto en el Senado, hizo las siguientes declaraciones sobre la decisión de la asesora principal del Congreso acerca de la propuesta en el paquete presupuestario de reconciliación de incluir un camino para la ciudadanía para los beneficiarios de DACA y TPS y para los trabajadores esenciales inmigrantes:

“Estoy decepcionado por esta decisión, pero sigo profundamente comprometido a proteger a los inmigrantes que llaman a los Estados Unidos su hogar, incluyendo a los más de 20,000 beneficiarios de TPS y a los 9,000 beneficiarios de DACA en Virginia. Nuestra comunidad y nuestra economía son más fuertes gracias a sus contribuciones y no descansaré hasta que hallemos un camino a la ciudadanía para ellos.”
