WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tim Kaine released the following statement on the passing of civil rights activist Walter Fore:
“I am saddened to hear of the passing of civil rights activist Walter Fore, and I send my prayers to his family and friends and to all of Lynchburg. As a Freedom Rider, President of Lynchburg’s Voter League and decades-long union advocate, Walter was a warrior for justice and equality. I last saw Walter at a meeting of African American leaders in Lynchburg that he helped put together, and it was an honor to have participated with him in an event about the issues he had devoted his life to. He will be dearly missed.”
