Kaine Statement On Burwell Nomination To Be OMB Director

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Budget Committee, released the following statement on President Obama’s nomination of Sylvia Mathews Burwell to serve as the next Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB):

“I look forward to considering President Obama’s nomination of Sylvia Mathews Burwell to be the next Director of the Office of Management and Budget. Burwell is a proven leader with decades of experience and a track record of bipartisanship in budgetary and domestic policy, as well as at the helm of global philanthropic organizations. As the House and Senate prepare to draft concurrent budget resolutions and tackle budget issues into the future, it’s critical that we have a strong partner in the Office of Management and Budget – one who is able to work across the aisle to achieve results.  I will do all I can to ensure the confirmation hearing addresses important questions regarding the pressing budgetary challenges that continue to face our nation.”
