Kaine Statement on Blinken, Mayorkas, Thomas-Greenfield, Haines, Sullivan, Kerry

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees, released the following statement on President-elect Biden’s decision to nominate Antony Blinken as Secretary of State, Alejandro Mayorkas as Secretary of Homeland Security, Linda Thomas-Greenfield as Ambassador to the United Nations, and Avril Haines as Director of National Intelligence as well as his decision to appoint Jake Sullivan as National Security Advisor and John Kerry as special presidential envoy on climate:

“After four years of withdrawal from the international community, it’s refreshing to see experienced nominees committed to strengthening our alliances and our security. These nominees’ qualifications are exceptional, and their philosophy that the United States is strongest when we engage globally is in line with my own. I look forward to discussing Mr. Blinken and Ms. Thomas-Greenfield’s visions for the future of American diplomacy and reinvigorating the State Department at their confirmation hearings and hearing more from the other nominees and appointees announced today.”
