WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, U.S. Senator Tim Kaine released the following statement applauding Volvo’s $14.5 million investment to expand Mack Trucks’ manufacturing facility in Salem to increase capacity for their medium-duty truck line, including an emerging medium-duty electric truck line. This investment will create at least 51 additional jobs. Customers will be incentivized to buy these electric trucks thanks to tax credits in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Kaine voted for the IRA, which passed in the Senate by one vote.
“Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, we are growing our economy and making our trucks cleaner tomorrow than today. I was proud to cast the deciding vote for this legislation in the Senate, and I look forward to seeing how this investment will support Salem’s workers, economy, and community.”
