Kaine Meets With President-Elect Biden Nominees Antony Blinken & Linda Thomas-Greenfield

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement after virtually meeting with Secretary of State nominee Antony Blinken and Ambassador to the United Nations nominee Linda Thomas-Greenfield:

“These nominees’ qualifications are exceptional. I was glad to hear more about their vision for the future of American diplomacy and discuss ways we can work together to further U.S. foreign policy goals. I’m confident that if confirmed, they will be ready to hit the ground running on day one and work tirelessly to strengthen both our alliances and our security.” 

Today’s meetings covered a range of topics, including the Iran nuclear deal, war powers, diplomatic engagement in the Americas, human rights, and rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement.
