Warner & Kaine Statement On Nomination Of Elizabeth Dillon

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine released the following statement on the President’s nomination of Elizabeth Dillon to serve on the Western District Court of Virginia. If confirmed by the Senate, Ms. Dillon will be the first woman to serve on the Western District bench.

“Virginia is fortunate to have the President nominate Elizabeth Dillon to the Western District. Ms. Dillon’s career reflects a commitment to public service, a keen legal mind, and the temperament to address and resolve contentious issues. She has practiced in Virginia for the entirety of her career before state and federal courts, as well as before relevant federal regulatory agencies, and is an active and well-respected member of the Virginia Bar.

“Despite her busy practice, Ms. Dillon remains committed to her community and has served as a long-time Youth Court Volunteer in Roanoke as well as a volunteer trainer for law enforcement officers in crisis intervention. She is engaged in her community outside the practice of law, volunteering for her church and with other civic organizations that help teach children to read.

“We are also gratified that, if confirmed by the Senate, Ms. Dillon will be the first woman to serve on the Western District bench. We strongly support her nomination and encourage our colleagues to confirm her as soon as possible.”
