Video: Kaine Statement On National Teacher Appreciation Day

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, released the following statement on National Teacher Appreciation Day. Kaine discussed his favorite college teacher and the value of public education in a video here.

“Good education begins with good teachers who earn competitive pay for the important work they do each day. On National Teacher Appreciation Day, let’s thank our educators and honor their tireless work by committing to pay teachers more. No teacher should be forced to leave the work they love because they can’t support their family.”

Earlier this year, Kaine introduced the Preparing and Retaining Education Professionals (PREP) Act to address teacher and principal shortages, especially in rural communities. Last week, Kaine honored 2019 National Teacher of the Year Rodney Robinson of Richmond, VA in his office. You can view pictures and video of the meeting here
