Kaine Statement On Virginia Native & Journalist Detained In Venezuela

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees, released the following statement on Virginia native and journalist Cody Weddle, who has been detained in Venezuela:

“My office has been in touch with the State Department regarding the detainment of Cody Weddle – a Virginian and journalist. The Venezuelan regime must release Mr. Weddle immediately. The United States needs to speak out forcefully against the targeting of journalists by Maduro and other authoritarian leaders around the world.”
