US would like a ceasefire in Ukraine on fair terms, says Senator Kaine

The United States would like to see a ceasefire in Ukraine on fair terms. However, Russia's actions show that it is not interested in this.

As RBC-Ukraine reports , this was stated by US Democratic Senator Tim Kaine during a briefing in Kyiv.

"The US would like a ceasefire on fair terms. Europe wants a ceasefire on fair terms. Ukraine deserves a ceasefire on fair terms," ??Kaine said.

The senator noted that events, including yesterday's strike on Sumy, make him doubt the sincerity of Russia's interest in a ceasefire.

"But I hope I'm wrong. And they have to demonstrate that I'm wrong by demonstrating a genuine interest in achieving this moment of ceasefire," Kaine added.

Ceasefire and Russian attacks
Recall that in March, Ukraine agreed to a US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire. However, Russia did not support this idea, stating that this agreement would not solve "unsolvable problems" of the Russian Federation.

In addition, after the talks, Russia significantly intensified its shelling of Ukraine, using drones and missiles of various types.

In particular, on April 4, the Russians attacked Kryvyi Rih with a cluster munition missile. It was used to cause as many casualties as possible. The strike killed 20 people , including nine children .

And on April 13, the Russians launched a double ballistic missile strike on the city center of Sumy. As of the morning of April 14, the number of people injured in the Russian missile strike on Sumy had risen to 119. At least 35 people were killed .
