American Democratic Senator and member of the Armed Services Committee Tim Kaine, during his visit to Kyiv, discussed the issue of the United States continuing military and humanitarian support to Ukraine.
He said this at a briefing in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
The senator recalled that he participated in the development of a bill to provide Ukraine with $61 billion in defense and additional humanitarian assistance a year ago, and in the summer the US will need to review the "next chapter" of its support for Ukraine.
So Kaine is in Ukraine to speak with government officials, NGOs, veterans, and lawmakers to get the latest information. He also plans to discuss the issue with German and Polish officials to make the case for continued bipartisan support for Ukraine, its self-defense, reconstruction, and humanitarian assistance.
"My goal is to learn as much as possible and for it to be useful, so that I can go back and defend my position, so that we continue our strong support for Ukrainian freedom, Ukrainian independence, and Ukrainian self-defense," the American politician said.
