Sen. Tim Kaine to Hold First Twitter and Facebook Town Hall

Senator to mark first six months in office by talking with constituents about economy, job growth, immigration reform, reducing gun violence and support for veterans.

He's been a member of the U.S. Senate now for six months and Virginia's Sen. Tim Kaine will mark the occasion with his first Twitter and Facebook town hall.

Kaine, a Democrat, will hold his town hall Wednesday, July 17 at 12 noon. Elected in November, Kaine, 55, will answer questions about his first months in the Senate and will look for feedback on the economy and job growth, immigration reform, measures to reduce gun violence and support for veterans.

Constituents can view Kaine's voting record and more at Project Vote Smart. Kaine has sponsored and introduced three bills and co-sponsored 29 bills, according to Congress.gov.

You can find Kaine on Twitter at @SenKaineOffice and on Facebook at U.S. Senator Tim Kaine. Questions can be submitted now on Kaine's Twitter and Facebook pages by using: #AskTim.

Using social media to communicate with constituents has become popular among politicians in recent years. Virginia's senior senator, Sen. Mark Warner, held his first Twitter town hall in February 2012. President Obama held his first Twitter town hall in 2011.
