Sen. Kaine Volunteers in Henrico for "Citizen Day" Initiative

U.S. Senator Tim Kaine rolled-up his sleeves and volunteered in Henrico County Saturday.

He, along with 30 volunteers, spent the morning repainting an elderly couple’s home. They teamed up with “Operation Paint Brush,” an organization that has been painting homes of people in need for nearly 15 years.

"It's one of the best things you can do. Some of my most enjoyable moments in my adult life have been volunteering and you get to meet neat people and learn about them and hopefully help out,” Senator Kaine said.

Senator Kaine volunteered as part of his new “Citizen Day” initiative. The goal of the program is to encourage people to volunteer in their communities. The initiative is modeled after a similar one he launched as Lieutenant Governor. Senator Kaine also hopes to highlight lesser-known organizations that are already making a positive difference. Kaine said he will volunteer throughout the Commonwealth every three months.
