Kaine Statement On Final Passage Of The Employment Non-Discrimination Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, a co-sponsor of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), released the following statement today after its final passage, 64-32:

“Today the Senate affirmed with bipartisan support that workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation will not be tolerated. This important legislation will ban employers from denying job opportunities to LGBT employees, subjecting them to harassment, or firing them just for being themselves. My first act as Governor was to sign an executive order banning discrimination against state employees based on race, sex, color, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, age, political affiliation, veteran status or disability, and today I am proud to join a bipartisan majority of my Senate colleagues to continue the fight for equal treatment of all Americans.”
